 ze palestinesi, molti di loro cresciuti nei territori palestinesi occupati,
  altri nei campi profughi del Libano, Giordania, Egitto, Siria, altri ancor
 a in Paesi del mondo dove i palestinesi sono esiliati. Hanno studiato music
 a fin da piccoli, con determinazione, con gioia e con molti sacrifici: sono
  i 60 elementi della Palestine Youth Orchestra, in tour in Italia dal 21 lu
 glio al 2 agosto. Sar&agrave; la prima tourn&eacute;e italiana della PYO, f
 ondata nel 2004 dall&rsquo;Edward Said National Conservatory of Music con l
 o scopo di riunire musicisti palestinesi residenti in tutto il mondo. La to
 urn&eacute;e in Italia &egrave; coordinata dal Conservatorio di Musica &ldq
 uo;Niccol&ograve; Paganini&rdquo; di Genova con la collaborazione del Conse
 rvatorio di Musica &ldquo;Santa Cecilia&rdquo; di Roma e della Oslo Philarm
 onic Orchestra.\n\nCon i loro violini e clarinetti saranno a Levanto il 28 
 Luglio, a Genova il 29, a Firenze il 30, a Roma il 1&deg; agosto e a&nbsp; 
 Ravello il 2 agosto. Quindici giovani musicisti italiani si esibiranno insi

  classica tradizionale, da Dvorak a Beethoven, ma anche significative compo

 a anche di questo: di una grande cultura e di una lunga tradizione che aiut

 e musicians of the PYO\n\nMahmoud Karzon, 18, Violinist\nfrom Al Amary camp
 , Palestine\n\nMahmoud grew up in the Al Amary refugee camp on the outskirt
 s of Ramallah. He began studying the violin only 5 years ago through a prog
 ramme initiated by the Al Kamandjati Association. In a short time he has ex
 celled to become a proficient young performer, and last year won second pri
 ze in the Palestine National Music Competition (strings category). He is th
 e most recent student to lead the Palestine Youth Orchestra. Mahmoud is beg
 inning his studies at the Toulouse conservatoire in France.\n\nJenna Bargho
 uti, 19, VIOLIN\nFrom Ramallah\n\nHaving been the recipient of numerous awa
 rds in her native Palestine for both violin performance and composition, Je
 nna is pursuing her violin studies at the University of Indiana in Blooming
 ton, USA where she has completed her first year. She teaches at an elementa
 ry school when not practicing the violin or studying music.\n\nLayale Chake
 r, 21, VIOLIN\nPalestinian living in Lebanon\n\nLayale studied violin at th
 e Lebanese Higher National Conservatory of Music in Beirut. From a mixed Pa
 lestinian-Lebanese family, Layale has never visited Palestine and the PYO p
 rovides her with a unique opportunity to socialize and connect with other y
 oung Palestinians living in Palestine and abroad. Layale now studies at the
  CSNM Paris Conservatoire, and spends much of her time focusing on composit
 ion studies at IRCAM.\n\nNaseem Halabi, 14, VIOLIN\nFrom rural Palestine\n\
 nNaseem is from a rural family living near to Ramallah. He began studying o
 n an outreach programme set up by the ESNCM, but later switched to become a
  regular student of the conservatoire after showing early promise on the vi
 olin.\n\nDania al Hasani, 24, VIOLIN\nFrom the occupied Golan, living in Sy
 ria\n\nDania&rsquo;s family are refugees from the occupied Golan region of 
 Syria. Dania completed her studies in violin at the Syrian Higher National 
 Institute for Music, and later completed a degree in English Literature at 
 the University of Damascus. Dania now continues her studies in Verona, Ital
 y, where she is a violin student at the conservatoire.\n\nMostafa Saad, 13 
 &ndash; VIOLIN\nPalestinian from the Galilee\n\nJust 13 years old, Mostafa 
 is from a\nPalestinian Druze family living in a\nsmall town in the Galilee 
 region\n(historic Palestine). Mostafa displays\ntremendous talent and music
 al\nmaturity for his age and performs\nregularly in a string quartet with h
 is\nolder brother Omar (viola), younger\nsister Tibah (cello), and younger\
 nbrother Ghandi (2nd violin).\n\nMohamed Najem, 26, CLARINET\nFrom Bethlehe
 m\n\nMohamed studied at the ESNCM in\nBethlehem before winning a scholarshi
 p\nto study at the Angers Conservatoire in\nFrance, where he recently compl
 eted his\nDEM. He has performed as a clarinetist in\nthe Palestine National
  Orchestra, and has\nreturned to Palestine to teach clarinet at\nthe ESNCM 
 in Ramallah and Bethlehem.\nAs well as being an accomplished clarinet\nplay
 er, he is also an exceptional nay\nplayer (traditional Arabic pipe\ninstrum
 ent).\n\nLayth Sidiq, 19, VIOLIN\nIraqi refugee living in Jordan\n\nLayth c
 omes from a musical family, his\nfather being the Iraqi conductor Mohammed\
 nSidiq. After completing high school at\nCheethams School of Music in Manch
 ester,\nLayth was offered a scholarship to study\nviolin at the Royal Colle
 ge of Music in\nLondon, but chose instead to accept a full\nscholarship to 
 study film composition at the\nBerklee School of Music in the USA. Layth is
 \none of a small number of exchange students\nfrom other Arab countries who
  continue to\ntake part regularly in the project. Layth is\nalso an able Fr
 ench Horn player.\n\nTala Khoury, 22, VIOLA\nFrom Ramallah\n\nAfter complet
 ing all the viola grades at the ESNCM\nin Ramallah, Tala chose to study nut
 rition at the\nAmerican University of Beirut. She now works as a\nnutrition
 ist for the World Health Organisation in\nRamallah, but continues to play r
 egularly as an\namateur violist in orchestras and other classical\ngroups i
 n Palestine.\n\nNaseem Atrash, 20, CELLO\nFrom Bethlehem\n\nHaving won many
  awards for cello\nperformance whilst a student at the\nESNCM in Bethlehem,
  Naseem now\nstudies performance at the Berklee School\nof Music in the USA
 .\n\nFaten Malek, 22, BASS\nPalestinian Refugee living in Egypt\n\nA Palest
 inian refugee living in Egypt,\nFaten visited Palestine for the first\ntime
  in the summer of 2011, when she\nperformed with the PYO as a bass\nplayer 
 in Nablus and Ramallah. During\nthe rehearsals in Birzeit she was\npresente
 d with a Palestinian flag\nsigned by all members of the PYO.\nFaten is a gr
 aduate of the Cairo\nConservatoire and plays at the Cairo\nOpera House and 
 Cairo Symphony\nOrchestra.\n\nAhmed Eid, 24, BASS\nFrom Ramallah\n\nAhmed s
 tudied at the ESNCM in Ramallah,\nbefore taking a scholarship in the Hochsc
 hule\nfur Musik in Cologne, Germany. He began his\ncontrabass studies in Ge
 rmany as a classical\nstudent, later switching to jazz. Ahmed enjoys\nperfo
 rming in many different styles including\nJazz, traditional Arabic, classic
 al and hip-hop.\n\nHind Sabanekh, 24, TRUMPET\nPalestinian living in Jordan
 \n\nHind graduated in trumpet from\nthe Academy of Music in Amman,\nJordan.
  She performs as principal\ntrumpet for the Amman Symphony\nOrchestra and t
 he PYO. She taught\nas a trumpet teacher for one year at\nthe ESNCM in Pale
 stine, but has\nsince had difficulties re-entering.\n
