Assopace Palestina vi invita a parteci
pare alla quarta azione globale per la riapertura della Shuhada Street che
si celebrerà, in tutto il mondo, dal 22 al 25 febbraio. Il 25 febbra
io 1994 è il giorno in cui il colono Baruch Goldstein ha massacrato
29 palestinesi mentre stavano pregando, nella moschea e tomba di Abramo ad
Hebron.
Shuhada Street è la via principale di Hebron, uni
ca città della West bank in cui i coloni israeliani vivono all&rsquo
;interno della città vecchia. Questa arteria, che fino a pochi anni
fa era un’affollata via commerciale, ora è deserta. Solo i col
oni israeliani sono autorizzati a camminarci, i palestinesi non possono met
terci piede. I negozi sono stati sigillati e gli abitanti arabi sono costre
tti a fare il giro della città per arrivare in un posto raggiungibil
e, in linea d’aria, in pochi minuti.
La chiusura di Shuhad
a Street non è solo un modo per rendere loro la vita difficile, non
è solo un modo per affermare il principio della forza dell’occ
upante. Shuhada Street è il simbolo della condanna al silenzio e all
a morte a cui Israele sta condannando molti villaggi e città palesti
nesi. E’ la strada dell'Apartheid e dell’occupazione milita
re.
Crediamo, come affermiamo con il nostro nome, nella pace. Ma
crediamo che la pace sia possibile solo attraverso la giustizia. Per quest
o, anche quest’anno, chiediamo, a chi si oppone all&
#39;apartheid israeliana, di organizzare azioni di solidariet&agrav
e;, durante le giornate dal 22 al 25 febbraio.
Alcune indicazioni:
- scendere in piazza con mani
festazioni, marce, fiaccolate, sit-in, flash mobs
- organizzare mostre
fotografiche o proiezioni di filmati sull'apartheid di Hebron
- i
nviare messaggi video a forum, media e social network che chiedano alla com
unità internazionale di utilizzare pressione diplomatica per riaprir
e la Shuhada street
- scrivere lettere alle famiglie palestinesi di He
bron per dimostrare solidarietà
- visitare la città di H
ebron per vedere con i vostri occhi la sofferenza quotidiana della gente
- ogni altra azione nonviolenta e creativa che vi sentite possa sostener
e la causa!

Announcing 4th Annual OPEN Shuhada St. Campaign (22-2
5/02/2013)
We are very excited to announce the upcoming
4th annual Open Shuhada St. Campaign from 22-25 February 2013.
The Open Shuhada St. Campaign (OSC) is a Palestinian initiative, aiming to
organize an International day of solidarity with the Palestinian residents
of Hebron. It was started in 2010 in Hebron and international solidarity ac
tions took place in numerous Cities around the world. In 2012 more than 35
different activities were organized
The Israeli state has impose
d on the Palestinian residents of the city a regime of forced evictions, cu
rfews, market closures, street closures, military checkpoints, subjection t
o military law including frequent random searches and detention without cha
rge, and lack of protection from rampant settler violence, which has pressu
red approximately 15,000 Palestinian civilians to flee their homes in the H
ebron city center, turning it into a virtual ghost town.
The Isr
aeli occupation forces closed Shuhada St. to Palestinian vehicles in 1994,
after the Ibrahimi Mosque massacre, and then Prevented Palestinian resident
s to walk there in 2000, in order to provide security for the 600 Israeli s
ettlers occupying the center of Hebron.
More than 500 stores wer
e closed by military order in the center of Hebron, and more than a thousan
d store owners were forced to close their shops due to checkpoints and clos
ures. At the same time, illegal settlers enjoy freedom of movement in the c
losed streets and are protected by occupation forces.
The activi
ties of the occupation and its settlers in the city of Hebron have turned t
he lives of 200,000 Palestinians in Hebron into a living hell and expelled
thousands from their homes.
On 25 February 2013 activists and or
ganizations from around the world will join together in solidarity with the
Palestinian residents of Hebron/ al Khaleel, through local protests and ac
tions that demand for the opening of Shuhada Street to Palestinians and an
End to the Israeli Occupation!
Shuhada Street used to be the pri
ncipal street for Palestinians residents, businesses and a very active mark
et place in the Palestinian city of Hebron/ al Khaleel. Today, because Shuh
ada Street runs through the Jewish settlement of Hebron, the street is clos
ed to Palestinian movement and looks like a virtual ghost street which only
Israelis and tourists are allowed to access. Hate graffiti has been spraye
d across the closed Palestinian shops and Palestinians living on the street
have to enter and exit their houses through their back doors or, even some
times by climbing over neighbor’s roofs.
In 1994, followin
g the massacre of 29 Muslims at prayer by America-Israeli settler Dr. Baruc
h Goldstein, shops on Shuhada Street were closed and vehicular traffic proh
ibited on the street. Despite a court case and an admission by the Israeli
government that it is illegal, the street is still closed to Palestinians 1
6 years later. We are focusing on Shuhada Street as a symbol of the settlem
ent issue, the policy of separation in Hebron/al Khaleel and the entire Wes
t Bank, the lack of freedom of movement, and the occupation at large.

closing the main road in Hebron.

derstanding of the situation and the daily suffering of the people living t
here.
