 nite in your different\ncapacities and struggles for a Global BDS Day of Ac
 tion on 30 March 2010 in\nsolidarity with the Palestinian people and for Bo
 ycott, Divestment and Sanctions\n(BDS) against Israel.\nThe BNC calls on pe
 ople of conscience\nand their organizations around the globe\nto mobilize i
 n creative, concrete and\nvisible BDS actions to make this day a\nhistoric 
 step in the movement against\nIsrael's apartheid, colonialism and\noccu
 pation, for accountability of the\noppressor and for the fulfillment of the
 \nrights and dignity of the Palestinian\npeople.\nThe BNC asks you to focus
  your 30\nMarch BDS actions on:\n1. Boycotting and divesting from\nIsraeli 
 and international\ncorporations that sustain\nIsrael’s apartheid, col
 onialism\nand occupation;\n2. Taking legal action towards\nending Israel&rs
 quo;s impunity,\nincluding by investigating and\nprosecuting suspected Isra
 eli\nwar criminals in national\ncourts and international\ntribunals;\n3. Pr
 omoting and applying pressure to implement arms embargoes\nagainst Israel a
 s well as a freeze or cancellation of free trade and\nother preferential ag
 reements with it, as a crucial and urgent step\ntowards full- fledged sanct
 ions against Israel;\n4. Launching academic, cultural and sports boycott ac
 tions against\nIsrael and its complicit institutions.\n\n\n \n\n\nImpl
 ementation of the Palestinian BDS\nCall is now more urgent than ever.\nOur 
 movement is stronger than ever.\nThe massive growth of the BDS\nCampaign ag
 ainst Israel and\nmultinational corporations and institutions\ncomplicit in
  its oppression of the\nPalestinian people is starting to make a\nserious a
 nd tangible impact\nThrough effective BDS campaigns we\ncan pressure Israel
  to end its inhumane\nsiege of the occupied Gaza Strip,\ndismantle the Apar
 theid Wall, end\noccupation and colonization of\nPalestinian land, grant fu
 ll equality to\nPalestinian citizens of Israel, and\nimplement the right of
  return of the\nPalestinian refugees as stipulated in UN\nResolution 194.\n
 Join us NOW\n\n\n \n\n\n The first Global BDS Day of Action was a
 nnounced by Palestinian civil society with overwhelming\nsupport at the Wor
 ld Social Forum in 2009. The day of action held on March 30 coincides with\
 nPalestinian Land Day, which commemorates the day in 1976 when Israeli secu
 rity forces shot and\nkilled six young\nPalestinian citizens of Israel. The
 se brave youth were among the thousands protesting\nexpropriation of Palest
 inian land to build new Jewish colonies and expand existing Jewish cities.\
 nToday, Land Day symbolizes Palestinian resistance to Israel’s ongoin
 g land expropriation,\ncolonization, occupation and apartheid.\nThe announc
 ement of the first Global BDS Day of Action came in the wake of the Israel&
 #39;s 23 day\nmilitary offensive “Operation Cast Lead” during w
 hich it killed more than 1400 and injured over 5000\nPalestinians in the oc
 cupied and besieged Gaza Strip. One year later, Israel continues its\nsuffo
 cating blockade of the entire Gaza Strip in what has been described by huma
 n rights experts\nand analysts as an act of ‘slow genocide.’ Th
 is is but a continuation of Israel’s brutal oppression of\nthe Palest
 inian people, including their expulsion from their homes during the Nakba i
 n 1948, military\nrule, occupation and colonization of their land, aparthei
 d, and persistent denial of the right of\nPalestinian refugees to return to
  their homes and lands.\nIn the 2009 BDS Day of Action, numerous NGOs, trad
 e unions, student organizations, political\nparties and social groups in ov
 er 40 cities worldwide took up the call for globally coordinated BDS\nactio
 n coming from the 2009 World Social Forum. BDS activities on that day targe
 ted, among\nothers, companies such as Connex, a subsidiary of the multinati
 onal Veolia complicit in building the\nJerusalem light rail system connecti
 ng Israeli colonies in the occupied West Bank to Jerusalem;\nChapters Indig
 o bookstore, whose profits fund 'lone' Israeli soldiers; the superm
 arket giant Tesco,\nwhich stocks an assortment of illegal settlement goods;
  and Motorola, supplier of\ntelecommunications and electronic systems for t
 he Israeli occupation forces.\nSince then, the global BDS campaign has grow
 n. Students, private sector firms, trade unions, and\nother civil society a
 ctors worldwide have come to see that Israel’s oppression of the Pale
 stinian\npeople cannot be tolerated any longer and have accordingly adopted
  diverse forms of BDS against\nIsrael until it ends its oppression of the P
 alestinian people and fully complies with international law.\nThis past yea
 r alone, trade unions, faith-based organizations, student groups, and many 
 other civil\nsociety movements and organizations have engaged in BDS campai
 gns aimed at holding Israel\naccountable for its violations of internationa
